IDI Gazeley U.K. Announces Further Project with John Lewis to Develop 638,000 SF (59,000 SQ M) Distribution Centre

Announcement constitutes the third build-to-suit project to date for the retailer at flagship Magna Park Milton Keynes Distribution Park

LONDON, March 18, 2015 – IDI Gazeley (Brookfield Logistics Properties), a leading global investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has today announced the signing of a project to develop a 638,000 SF (59,000 SQ M) built-to-suit warehouse for leading U.K. retailer, John Lewis, at its flagship Magna Park Milton Keynes distribution park.

The announcement constitutes the third build-to suit project to be developed to date for John Lewis following the construction of 1.3 million SF of sustainable warehouse space across two built-to-suit facilities of 650,000 SF (60,000 SQ M) and 668,000 SF (62,000 SQ M) respectively.

Construction of the new distribution centre is due to commence at the beginning of April 2015 and be completed by the start of November. 

John Lewis has signed a 25-year lease and intends to use the facility to support its existing distribution centre operations at Magna Park and for the general storage of furniture, electricals and home furnishings.

The building will feature 600,000 SF of warehouse space, together with 38,000 SF of office accommodation over two storeys including a training centre. As with all new IDI Gazeley warehouse developments, the building will be developed to the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ certification.

Our new Milton Keynes distribution centre will complement our two existing Magna Park sites built by IDI Gazeley and provide us with the space to continue to build on the improvements we have made in providing better service to our shops and customers.
