IDI Gazeley Espana Announces Deal to Develop New 23,000 sq m (247,500 sq ft) Build-to-Suit Logistics Warehouse for leading multi-national Retailer Carrefour in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid)

MADRID, 22 October 2014 – IDI Gazeley (Brookfield Logistics Properties), a leading global investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has today announced  details of a project to develop a new 23,000 sq m (247,500 sq ft) Logistics Warehouse for leading multi-national retailer Carrefour in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid).

The building, being developed on a 43,000 sq m plot, will serve as a dedicated chill and frozen facility for the fast expanding retailer and will be equipped with the latest state-of-the-art chill and cold storage technology. As with all new IDI Gazeley Developments, it will also be developed to the highest standards of sustainable development, construction quality and service.

The facility will be located in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), within the Casablanca industrial site in a prime location, just 22 kilometres away from the centre of Madrid within the A2 -highway corridor. It will be situated directly adjacent to the warehouse also developed and owned by IDI Gazeley and leased to H&M on the park.

Speaking about the project, IDI Gazeley Senior Vice President & Country Director Spain Jose de la Calle said, “We are very pleased to announce details of this project today and to have been chosen and trusted by Carrefour to deliver this important new facility. Carrefour set a demanding brief in terms of their preferred location, specification, time-scale and budget to which IDI Gazeley responded.

Our understanding of exactly what the customer wanted and our ability to respond in an innovative and rapid way were the key factors for IDI Gazeley being selected. Torrejón de Ardoz is an outstanding location for logistics as this project further demonstrates. This will be the second major facility we have delivered on the park following the project delivered previously for H&M.”

Also speaking about the project, Antonio Aguilar, Operations Director Carrefour Supply Chain said, "The new facility and platform we are establishing in Torrejón will improve the efficiency of our supply chain operations, with the aim to increase the availability of the final product to our clients, which in turn will allow us to give a better response to their needs."
