IDI Gazeley awarded LEED® Gold certification for state-of-the-art 35,000 SQ M (376,737 SF) regional distribution center developed for leading global beauty and cosmetics retailer L’Oréal in Italy

Building located at Magna Park Villanterio to the south of Milan serves as L’Oréal’s regional logistics platform and is one of the most advanced buildings of its kind in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency in Italy.

The award represents the first logistics building in Italy to obtain the much-coveted LEED Gold certification.

MILAN, April 27, 2015, IDI Gazeley (Brookfield Logistics Properties), a leading global investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has today announced that is has received the LEED Gold certification award for its 35,000 SQ M (376,737 SF) regional distribution center developed for leading global beauty and cosmetics retailer L’Oréal at Magna Park Villanterio, situated to the south of Milan.

The building, completed by IDI Gazeley in 2013, is the first logistics center in Italy to obtain the much-coveted LEED Gold Certification awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The LEED certification (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) program is a method of evaluation of environmentally sustainable buildings, through objective standards and quantifiable parameters, which is granted by the U.S. Green Building Council. It is a voluntary system that measures, among other things, the efficient use of energy, water and the proper use of materials, waste management in the construction and the quality of the indoor environment in the habitable spaces.

Speaking about the announcement, IDI Gazeley Europe & China Chief Executive Officer Pat McGillycuddy said: “This award is a significant achievement for IDI Gazeley and testament to the outstanding team assembled on this project for one of our largest and most important customers globally. This was the second major project completed for L’Oréal following construction of a 678,000 SF (63,022 SQ M) distribution center in Cincinnati, Ohio recently.

The L’Oréal distribution center is the first building to be delivered at Magna Park Villanterio, which offers one of North Italy’s leading distribution platforms for logistics and is capable of accommodating up to 200,000 SQ M (2,152,782 SF) of development space. IDI Gazeley expects to welcome retailers, manufacturers and logistics providers seeking to base their operations in Lombardy, East Piedmont and Liguria.

It forms part of a broader network of Magna Parks that IDI Gazeley is developing in the North Italy Distribution market linking two other Magna Parks already in operation and established in Monticelli d’Ongina (Piacenza) and San Bellino (Rovigo).
